How my journey began

Tim Russell is owner and staff consultant at Antlers & Oaks - Land Stewardship Services, LLC.

Tim grew up on a small Missouri farm where he developed his passion for the outdoors. Whether learning the arts of fishing in the clear Ozark streams with his father, hunting rabbits behind a pair of beagles, bowhunting deer or calling turkeys in the woodlands, he adopted the sense of gratitude and values from his rural family life. His family they raised much of their own food, ran cattle, swine and horses. Tim is an advid hunter and angler, enjoying especially blackpowder shooting and fishing for smallmouth in a kayak. Camping and hiking with his fellow Scouts at a young age taught him the value of learning outdoor skills and the importance of goal setting and the enjoyment of accomplishments.

Tim has extensive knowledge, skills and experience in evaluating and managing various wildlife habitats found in Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas. His wildlife habitat management included work on croplands, grasslands, glades, woodlands and forests. Targeted species usually included white-tailed deer, eastern wild turkey, bobwhite quail and in more recent years, contributed to the Missouri Black Bear Study. This included related studies in den selection and habitat associations in a recolonizing, low-density black bear populations. He also contributed to wildlife publications including drafting black bear management plans and in the revision of “The Wild Mammals of Missouri”.
